Last Class this Session

Last class this time around. It's nice to drive down t he street and be able to turn, but I have to say the "advancements in technology" available at the hundred year old post civil war studio, ha!

I've read that every artist has an inspiration, a muse, even a calling? Well, since I am no artist...it is safe to say that this endeavor has been, for me, simply a labor of love.

My whole life I have been surrounded by clay and potters, and their legacy. I never understood the serenity involved with creating something with your own two hands from a wad of clay. After many years of people asking me if there would be a 5th generation of Hilton potters, I stopped in October 2010 and thought...why not? Little did I know what I had gotten myself into.

What better way to start this journey than by taking an introductory class from the very same man who taught my father the basics 33 years ago? So I looked up Leon Nichols, and signed up for his class. I figured it's only appropriate that the 5th generation starts out where the 4th generation did...and I really wanted to keep it a secret from dad. (at least until Christmas, anyway)

This web page details my journey from a "mudslinger" to an aspiring "crooked little potter," an adventure I started after dad's 2010 show. And one I hope to share from here forward with him. Thank you dad, for being my inspiration...
